Serumski parametri hormona \u0161titnja\u010de pokazuju zna\u010dajnu raznolikost izme\u0111u zdravih pojedinaca koja je, pored okoli\u0161nih \u010dimbenika, u znatnoj mjeri odre\u0111ena i geneti\u010dkim \u010dimbenicima. S ciljem otkrivanja geneti\u010dkih \u010dimbenika koji utje\u010du na koncentracije ukupnih hormona \u0161titnja\u010de, provedena je prva meta-analiza cjelogenomskih analiza povezanosti za ukupnu koncentraciju hormona T<sub>4 <\/sub>na 1121 ispitaniku s podru\u010dja grada Splita i otoka Kor\u010dule. Provedene su i cjelogenomske analize povezanosti za ukupnu koncentraciju hormona T<sub>3<\/sub> i omjer T<sub>3<\/sub>\/T<sub>4<\/sub> za ispitanike s podru\u010dja grada Splita. Cjelogenomskim analizama povezanosti identificirane su genske varijante povezane s ukupnom koncentracijom hormona T<sub>4 <\/sub>i omjerom T<sub>3<\/sub>\/T<sub>4<\/sub>. Navedene analize nadopunjuju postoje\u0107e znanje o geneti\u010dkoj pozadini funkcije \u0161titne \u017elijezde te doprinose boljem razumijevanju biolo\u0161kih putova povezanih s funkcijom \u0161titnja\u010de.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Title:<br><strong>Identification of genetic factors associated with total serum levels of thyroid hormones<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Abstract:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Thyroid hormones (TH), thyroxine (T<sub>4<\/sub>) and triiodothyronine (T<sub>3<\/sub>) are essential for the normal growth, development, and metabolism of every cell in the body. In healthy individuals, serum thyroid parameters show significant interindividual variability mainly determined by genetic factors, in addition to environmental factors. To detect genetic variants associated with total THs levels, the first genome-wide meta-analysis of total T<sub>4<\/sub> levels was carried out in 1121 individuals from the city of Split and the island of Kor\u010dula. The genome-wide association analyses of total T<sub>3<\/sub> levels and T<sub>3<\/sub>\/T<sub>4<\/sub> ratio were conducted in the individuals from the city of Split. The most significant results of the genome-wide association analyses are the identification of the genetic variants with the total T<sub>4<\/sub> levels, and T<sub>3<\/sub>\/T<sub>4<\/sub> ratio.
