CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR ENROLLMENT IN THE DOCTORAL STUDY PROGRAM IN BIOPHYSICS

1. October 2024.

The enrollment quota is 10 students.

The study program lasts for 3 years and carries 180 ECTS credits.

Students are exempt from paying tuition fees.

With the application for enrollment (Form 1), the following documents must be submitted:

  • A CV
  • A certificate (diploma) of completed university graduate studies in physics, chemistry, biology, or related disciplines,
  • An official transcript of grades with an average grade that should generally be above 4.0,
  • A certified copy of proof of citizenship or nationality,
  • A motivation letter for enrollment in the doctoral study of Biophysics, detailing scientific research interest and future plans (up to two pages),
  • Recommendations from two distinguished scientists or university professors from the institution where the applicant graduated or worked,
  • A recommendation from a potential mentor and co-mentor, including a statement confirming secured funding for the doctoral candidate’s research and other necessary expenses within the doctoral program (Form 1.A),
  • A proposal for scientific research written together with the potential mentor and co-mentor (Form 1.B),
  • Proof of active proficiency in the English language, either with an appropriate certificate (not older than two years) or through an interview with the selection committee,
  • Information on awards received during studies and published scientific papers and/or abstracts of posters/presentations at conferences (if applicable),
  • For conditional enrollment (for applicants with degrees in other acceptable scientific fields):
    • A certificate (diploma) of completed university graduate studies in mathematics; studies in the field of technical, biotechnical sciences, or the field of biomedicine and health
    • Applicants must provide documents proving competencies acquired through formal, non-formal, or informal learning

The application must specify whether the applicant is applying for full-time or part-time doctoral studies.

Applications from foreign nationals are welcome and will be considered under the same terms and criteria as for Croatian nationals (more information available on the website https://biophysics.pmfst.unist.hr/).

Both male and female candidates are encouraged to apply. Words and terms used in the announcement that have gender significance equally refer to both masculine and feminine gender.
