CALL FOR APPLICATIONS ENROLMENT OF STUDENTS IN THE 1ST YEAR OF THE DOCTORAL STUDY PROGRAMME IN BIOPHYSICS IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026

The enrollment quota is 10 students.
The program lasts 3 years and carries 180 ECTS credits.
Students are exempt from paying tuition fees.

Applications must include:

  • Form DS-01 – Application for the Call,
  • a professional CV,
  • certificate (diploma) of completed university graduate study in physics, chemistry, biology, or related disciplines,
  • certificate (diploma) of completed university graduate study in mathematics; or studies in the field of technical, biotechnical sciences, or in the field of biomedicine and health for conditional enrollment,
  • official transcript of records with calculated GPA, which should generally be higher than 4.0,
  • certified copy of birth certificate or proof of citizenship,
  • motivation letter for enrolment in the doctoral Study in Biophysics, outlining research interests and future plans (up to two pages),
  • Form DS-02 – Mentor’s Declaration of Supervision and Form DS-03 – Co-mentor’s Declaration of Supervision, including a statement on secured funding for the doctoral candidate’s research and other necessary costs within the doctoral programme,
  • additional recommendations from two distinguished university professors of the institution where the candidate graduated, or scientists with whom they collaborated,
  • Form DS-04 – Research Proposal, prepared together with the prospective supervisor and co-supervisor,
  • proof of proficiency in English (certificate not older than two years) or an interview with the selection committee,
  • information on awards received during studies and published scientific papers and/or abstracts of posters/presentations at conferences (if applicable),
  • for conditional enrollment, documents proving competencies acquired through formal, non-formal or informal learning,
  • applicants who completed their studies abroad must also submit a Decision on the Recognition of Foreign Higher Education Qualifications, after initiating the procedure at the University of Split (Application and documentation must be submitted to: University of Split, Ruđera Boškovića 31, 21000 Split).

Applications from foreign citizens are welcome and will be considered under the same conditions and criteria as for Croatian citizens.
The competition is open to applicants of all genders. Terms and expressions in this call that have gender significance include both the masculine and feminine forms equally.
